About Dr. Gerner

Dr. Gerner moved to Plattsburgh from Cleveland, Ohio in 1977 to become a dentist at Plattsburgh Air Force Base. The Air Force had paid for dental school at Case-Western Reserve School of Dentistry and decided that Plattsburgh was the right place to send him. Although moving to Plattsburgh wasn't Dr. Gerner's idea, staying here was as he quickly fell in love with the area. After his commitment to the Air Force was completed he became, and has remained, a general dentist in private practice.

In the years since, dentistry has provided him with many wonderful opportunities and challenges. The most recent of these started when he became aware of the dental aspects of sleep apnea. After becoming aware of the prevalence and severity of sleep apnea Dr. Gerner decided to dive deeply into this new area. Sleep apnea is a serious medical condition that affects many patients and leaves tell-tale signs in the mouth that are not usually obvious to physicians. For this reason Dr. Gerner has made a serious commitment to helping his patients understand, and local medical community treat, this serious problem.
